COMPANY OVERVIEW
In 1999, AgWest’s founder Steve Knuth opened shop in with the simple goal of scratching out a living for himself helping farmers with their marketing. Celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2019, AgWest has grown into the premier marketing firm for the Western Corn Belt. With a team of over 50 folks who are dedicated to the company’s mission of quality and professionalism, they have built relationships with over 3,000 customers. The company is based in Holdrege, Nebraska and serves producers out of 10 offices across Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Kansas.
AgWest recognizes that while producers are good at growing a crop, or raising livestock, many struggle with selling it. Whether they need help creating a marketing plan and executing the actual sale, navigating the many tools available to manage risk or managing the stress that comes with it all, the AgWest team serves as a “Marketing Partner” for producers. The first of its kind, their full-service grain marketing program, Revenue and Profit Management (RPM), utilizes both the futures and cash markets. Through RPM, the farmer works with their AgWest advisor to develop a written marketing plan that meets their operation’s financial goals. Together they determine the producer’s cost of production to establish the plan’s foundation. Sales targets are then set and will be executed in either the customer’s hedge account or directly with customer's preferred buyers. AgWest’s premier RPM service has maintained an average of 90% customer retention over the past 12 years.
So much has changed over the past two decades, but AgWest’s dedication to their customers and delivering profitability-based marketing plans, has remained constant. Risk management comes in many forms but getting out on a farm, truly seeing and understanding an operation and its needs, serves as the backbone to AgWest’s approach.
